UW Huskies land transfer portal commit from rival Oregon

Jayden Limar is crossing enemy lines to return home.

The former Oregon Ducks running back and Lake Stevens High School star announced on social media he is transferring to the UW Huskies on Monday.

A former four-star recruit, Limar spent the past three seasons at Oregon where he was in the mix in the backfield and played special teams.

He rushed for 262 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 5.7 yards on 46 carries this season (all career highs). He added 11 receptions for 75 yards.

Limar returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in Oregon’s 51-34 win over James Madison in the first round of the College Football Playoff, and he had the Ducks’ longest play from scrimmage (a 27-yard reception) in their 23-0 win over Texas Tech in the quarterfinals.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Limar totaled 442 yards and four TDs on 4.7 yards per carry and had 20 receptions for 207 yards and one TD in his three seasons at Oregon. He also returned two kicks for 53 yards.

Limar adds experience to a UW backfield that is graduating starter Jonah Coleman and lost Adam Mohammed, the presumed starter next season, in the transfer portal. Mohammed committed to Cal last week.

Before arriving at Oregon, Limar was a standout at Class 4A powerhouse Lake Stevens where he helped lead the Vikings to their first state championship in 2022.

He rushed for 2,003 yards and 36 TDs on 8.5 yards per carry as a senior, adding 328 yards and four TDs on 26 carries. His efforts included rushing for 185 yards in the state title game against Kennedy Catholic just one week after suffering a high-ankle sprain in state semifinals.

He was The Everett Herald’s All-Area Player of the Year in 2022.

Limar finished his high school career with 5,028 yards from scrimmage and 77 total TDs.

The Huskies had received pledges from nine transfer portal recruits as of Tuesday morning, according to 247Sports.
