Watch: Behind the scenes tour of Seattle Mariners’ spring complex

Mar 4, 2025, 1:08 PM

The star of the show early in Seattle Mariners spring training may very well may have been the facility itself, as an area that contains the most critical training space underwent a massive renovation this winter.

Seattle Mariners national TV broadcasts now up to 13 games for 2025

The Mariners’ bullpens and batting cages were given major upgrades at the Peoria Sports Complex, and additional work areas for the position players were added. M’s vice president of baseball operations Jack Mosimann spearheaded the project that has drawn rave reviews from pitchers and position players alike.

“I think they did a great job with the space, created a great environment,” catcher Cal Raleigh said. “It was definitely needed. You are not on top of each other, everybody has got a place to go. It’s just a better look. It’s more professional, the turf and the cage. It’s looking out for the players and their development, just trying to get every little edge you can.”

The project included everything from paint to turf to the newest technology, and starting pitcher Logan Gilbert was one of 15 players who were asked for input as it was being developed and executed, something he greatly appreciated.

“It’s huge,” Gilbert said. “First it just says a lot about the way they buy into the things we do. Our prep, our drills. The little details that become the best – that’s the point where we are at, that we are trying to turn over every stone, and that says a lot. It’s huge just for us on an everyday level to get the most out of everything we do.”

Top of the line equipment, a campus-like feel, better areas for communication and flow were major emphases of the overhaul, which you can see in the behind the scenes video at the top of this post.
