Mariners prospects sweep Double-A Texas League monthly awards
Kade Anderson and Lazaro Montes were rewarded for their dominance in Double-A Arkansas over the month of June.

The Seattle Mariners swept the Double-A Texas League awards for the month of June.
Top pitching prospect Kade Anderson was named the Texas League’s Pitcher of the Month and recently promoted outfielder Lazaro Montes was named the league’s Player of the Month, Minor League Baseball announced on Monday.
Mariners now have 6 of MLB Pipeline’s top 75 prospects
Anderson, MLB Pipeline’s top pitching prospect and No. 5 overall prospect, continued his spectacular season for Double-A Arkansas with a 0.79 ERA over his four starts in June. The 21-year-old left-hander piled up 32 strikeouts and three walks over 22 2/3 innings over that span.
Anderson, the No. 3 overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft, has a dazzling 1.36 ERA in 14 starts with Arkansas this season – including a 27 2/3-inning scoreless streak from May 22 through June 19. He sits atop the Texas League leaderboard in ERA, strikeouts (108), WHIP (0.69), opponents’ batting average (.160), strikeout rate (41.4%) and walk rate (3.8%).
Montes, who was promoted to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, batted .299 with 12 home runs and a 1.199 OPS over 25 games in June.
For the season, Montes slashed .234/.369/.550 with 25 home runs and a .919 OPS in 79 games with Arkansas. The 21-year-old outfielder slugger ranks second in the Texas League in homers, third in slugging percentage and third in OPS. He is MLB Pipeline’s No. 26 overall prospect.
