Mariners’ Patrick Wisdom has eventful weekend in Triple-A Tacoma
Seattle Mariners infielder Patrick Wisdom had a three-homer game at Triple-A Tacoma – one night after a brawl that stemmed from him getting hit by two pitches.

It’s been quite the weekend for Seattle Mariners infielder Patrick Wisdom at Triple-A Tacoma.
Mariners change up their starting pitching plans
On Friday night, the 34-year-old Wisdom was hit by a pitch in back-to-back innings, which led to a benches-clearing brawl between the Rainiers and the Round Rock Express.
On Saturday night, Wisdom dished some payback by hitting three home runs in Tacoma’s 5-1 win over Round Rock.
And on Sunday, Wisdom received a suspension from MLB, according to his MLB.com page.
Friday night’s brawl occurred after Wisdom was hit by a 93.7 mph slider from Round Rock’s Luis Curvelo in the eighth and then by a 101.1 mph fastball from Emiliano Teodo in the ninth. Following the second hit by pitch, Wisdom shouted at Teodo and was visibly upset as he started making his way to first base.
In the meantime, both dugouts emptied onto the field for a brief altercation. Tempers briefly cooled after the initial encounter, but then a full-on scrum ensued, with shoving and several apparent punches.
Home plate umpire Jared Duerson ejected Wisdom, along with with Rainiers coach Jacob Nottingham and Round Rock center fielder Gilberto Celestino.
Wisdom responded on Saturday with home runs in each of his first three at-bats, including a mammoth 449-foot three-run shot to left-center field at Cheney Stadium. He drove in all five runs in Tacoma’s win.

Wisdom has split this season between Seattle and Tacoma. He’s batted just .122 with a homer and a double in 15 games with the Mariners, but he’s hitting .309 with 19 homers and a 1.302 in 32 games with the Rainiers. He has the second-most homers in the Pacific Coast League this season, despite playing far fewer Triple-A games than most of the other players on the leaderboard.
Wisdom 89 career MLB home runs over parts of eight seasons in the majors, including 20-plus homers in three straight years with the Chicago Cubs from 2021-23.
