Julio Rodríguez is day to day after exiting with a hamstring spasm in the seventh inning of the Seattle Mariners’ 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said the three-time All-Star felt the spasm after making a catch in center field earlier in the game.

“It just surfaced tonight and (was) something that we just wanted to be careful with, and we’ll see how he is tomorrow,” Wilson said. “I’m assuming it’s just a day-to-day thing.”

Rodríguez struck out on a check swing to end the bottom of the sixth and then was replaced in center field to begin the top of the seventh. He was seen talking with head athletic trainer Kyle Torgerson in the dugout shortly after exiting the game.

Rob Refsnyder replaced Rodríguez in the lineup and took over in right field, while Victor Robles slid from right field to center field.

Rodríguez’s early exit was the latest in a long line of ailments for the injury-plagued Mariners, who still have a handful of key players sidelined even after star catcher Cal Raleigh and veteran shortstop J.P. Crawford returned from the injured list on Tuesday.

“Given what we’ve got going on right now in terms of injuries, it was smart to get (Rodríguez) out of there and give it a little bit of a rest,” Wilson said.

The Mariners placed outfielder Randy Arozarena (left hamstring soreness) on the 10-day IL an hour before Tuesday’s series opener, high-leverage reliever Matt Brash (right lat strain) landed on the 10-day IL last week and infielder Brendan Donovan (left groin strain) has been out for the past month.

First baseman Josh Naylor (right wrist soreness) and outfielder Luke Raley (back tightness) also missed the first two games of Seattle’s series against Baltimore. They are both day to day.
