M’s game, Alumni Home Run Derby airing on different streaming services

Friday night is set to be a unique experience at T-Mobile Park as the Seattle Mariners hold their first-ever Alumni Home Run Derby following the conclusion of their game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

For those not attending and planning to catch the action, you’ll need to use different streaming services to watch each event.

The game, which is schedule for a 6:45 p.m. first pitch, will air on Apple TV with Alex Faust on the play-by-play call, Ryan Spilborghs as the analyst and Tricia Whitaker as the sideline reporter. Pregame coverage begins at 6 p.m.

The Mariners announced Tuesday that their Alumni Home Run Derby will stream for free on Mariners.TV and MLB.TV platforms, and will not be subject to blackouts, meaning it will be available anywhere. Mariners play-by-play broadcasters Aaron Goldsmith and Gary Hill Jr. will be on the call for the derby. The derby will not air on cable TV.

For those wanting to hear a local call of the game during the Apple TV broadcast, you can change the audio feed on Apple TV to the Seattle Sports radio broadcast, featuring announcers Rick Rizzs and Gary Hill Jr.

To change the audio from the Apple announcers to the Seattle Sports radio call, click the circular waveform icon – above the timeline and to the right of the button for subtitles (the subtitles icon looks like a quote box). Once you click on the waveform icon, it will give the options to choose the TV audio or either team’s radio feed.

The Alumni Home Run Derby is set to feature seven former Mariners as participants: Ichiro Suzuki, Mike Cameron, Ryon Healy, Stefan Romero, Bucky Jacobsen, Austin Nola and Ryan Rowland-Smith. Ken Griffey Jr. is serving as commissioner of the event and Jay Buhner and Nelson Cruz as the derby coaches.

Center fielder Julio Rodríguez will also make his debut as a DJ at T-Mobile Park during the event under his “DJ Pleno” moniker.

The derby will feature two rounds, with the top two hitters from the first round battling in the championship round.
