Mariners acquire INF Buddy Kennedy from Giants

The Seattle Mariners acquired 27-year-old infielder Buddy Kennedy from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations on Sunday night.

Kennedy has been added to Seattle’s 40-man roster.

Kennedy played seven games with the Giants this season, batting 0 for 7 with three strikeouts and a walk. He spent most of the year with Triple-A Sacramento, where he hit .321 with eight home runs and a .967 OPS in 48 games.

Kennedy, who hits from the right side, has appeared in 74 MLB games for six different franchises over parts of five seasons. He has a career .171 batting average at the major league level, with two homers and a .527 OPS. He has primarily played second base and third base in the majors.

Kennedy was a fifth-round MLB Draft pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. He made his MLB debut for Arizona in 2022 and has since spent time with the Detroit Tigers (2024), Philadelphia Phillies (2024), Toronto Blue Jays (2025), Los Angeles Dodgers (2025) and the Giants (2025-26).

Kennedy is the grandson of former four-time All-Star infielder Don Money, who played 16 MLB seasons between the Phillies (1968-72) and Milwaukee Brewers (1973-83).
