Baseball’s top pitching prospect will reportedly make his debut at T-Mobile Park on Saturday.

The Seattle Mariners are planning to call up 2025 No. 3 overall pick Kade Anderson to start Saturday’s matchup against the Chicago Cubs, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Thursday afternoon.

There’s more to Mariners’ Kade Anderson than the numbers

Anderson, who helped lead LSU to the 2025 College World Series title, has put together a dominant first season of professional baseball with Seattle’s Double-A Arkansas affiliate.

In 18 starts for the Travelers, Anderson has a 10-1 record and sparkling 1.06 ERA and 0.64 WHIP over 93 1/3 innings pitched. He’s struck out 135 batters while walking just 13 and holding opponents to a .147 average. The 22 year old leads the minor leagues in WHIP and strikeout rate (40.5%). He’s also first among minor leaguers in Single-A or above in ERA and opponents’ batting average.

The 6-foot-2 left-hander hadn’t allowed a run in any of his past four starts with Arkansas, a streak of 20 2/3 scoreless innings. He has turned in 13 scoreless outings among his 18 starts this year and has allowed more than two runs only once.

The LSU product is the consensus top pitching prospect in baseball, according to major publications. He’s ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect regardless of position by The Athletic, third by ESPN, fifth by MLB Pipeline and sixth by Baseball America.

Since Anderson will reportedly be called up with less than 45 days remaining on the MLB regular season schedule, he will maintain his rookie eligibility for the 2027 season unless he exceeds 50 innings pitched in the majors this year, which would be highly unlikely.
