The Seattle Mariners will be on the opposite side of former outfielder Jarred Kelenic for the third time on Friday night.
Kelenic is in the lineup for the Chicago White Sox, hitting seventh and playing right field in the Mariners’ 4:40 p.m. series opener in Chicago.
Kelenic went 1 for 7 with a run scored in two games against the Mariners while a member of the Atlanta Braves in 2024, which was his first season after being traded by Seattle.
The 26-year-old Kelenic is a former first-round MLB Draft pick and was at one time of the top prospects in all of baseball, but he’s struggled to consistently produce in the big leagues since his debut with the M’s in 2021. He spent the majority of 2025 with Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate and signed with the White Sox on a minor league deal in offseason. He’s 4 for 14 (.286) in six games with the White Sox since being called up from Triple-A last week.

Seattle Mariners lineup
The M’s welcome third baseman and leadoff man Brendan Donovan back to their lineup Friday after he was activated from the 10-day injured list. Donovan had been out of action since April 18 with a left groin muscle strain.
Also of note with Seattle’s lineup is that Cal Raleigh is set to catch for the first time since May 1. Raleigh had a side issue that caused him to miss three games then be limited to designated hitter duties for two more during the Mariners’ recent homestand.

Mariners Radio Network coverage on Seattle Sports begins at 3:30 p.m. with the pregame show.
