Lineups: Bryce Miller makes Mariners return vs Astros

After starting the season on the injured list with an oblique strain, Bryce Miller is making his return to a big league mound for the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.

Miller’s return to MLB action comes against a familiar opponent as the M’s take on the Astros at Daikin Park in Houston, roughly 3 hours from where Miller went to high school in New Braunfels, Tex.

Below is a look at the lineup the Astros are rolling out against Miller, which includes three-time All-Star Yordan Alvarez batting second.

This will be Miller’s seventh career start against the Astros and fourth in Houston. He has a career 2.55 ERA over 35 1/3 innings against the Mariners’ division rival, including a 1.86 ERA over 19 1/3 innings when pitching in Houston.

Third baseman Brendan Donovan is getting the night off for the Mariners as the club continues to manage their prized offseason trade acquisition’s workload. Donovan had sports hernia surgery over the offseason and the lingering effects have impacted his health early this year, which included a stint on the injured list that ended last week for a left groin strain.

With Donovan out of the lineup, J.P. Crawford is taking his spot at the top of the order against Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., while Leo Rivas is getting the start at third base and batting ninth. That moves second baseman Cole Young up to the No. 8 spot in the order.
