SEATTLE – As if the crowd at T-Mobile Park needed any more reason to bring the noise for the Seattle Mariners’ win-or-go-home matchup with the Detroit Tigers.

Can Seattle Mariners fans cause an earthquake? Seismometer installed for Game 5

Fans were treated to a welcomed surprise before Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Friday, with M’s legends Ken Griffey Jr. and Alvin Davis taking the field to get the crowd hyped for one of the biggest baseball games to take place in the Pacific Northwest ever.

Griffey came out in style. The legendary center fielder rode on to the field from the gate in right-center field in a jet black 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport convertible with Mariners-themed teal flames and his No. 24 on the doors. He exited the vehicle behind home plate, pulled out a teal and blue towel and waved it as a packed-house at T-Mobile Park followed suit.

Davis’ moment came afterwards, as “Mr. Mariner” walked on to the field from the clubhouse to throw out the ceremonial first pitch to Luke Raley.

Griffey and Davis are two of the 11 members of the Mariners Hall of Fame. Davis, the AL Rookie of the Year in 1984 who played in Seattle from 1984-92, was the first-ever inductee in 1997. Griffey joined in 2013, which was three years before he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
