The M’s are set for a decisive American League Division Series Game 5 clash with the Detroit Tigers on Friday night at T-Mobile Park.
With the season on the line and the tall task of facing reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal in front of them, manager Dan Wilson is sticking with the lineup versus southpaws that helped them get to this point.
Left fielder Randy Arozarena will bat leadoff, followed by MLB home run leader Cal Raleigh and center fielder Julio Rodríguez. Batting cleanup is Jorge Polanco, who homered twice off Skubal in Seattle’s Game 2 win at home.
Trade deadline acquisitions Eugenio Suárez and Josh Naylor are hitting fifth and sixth, respectively. Mitch Garver is batting seventh as the designated hitter, with right fielder Victor Robles and shortstop J.P. Crawford rounding out the order in the eight and nine holes.

Seattle’s lineup will try to piece together a fourth victory in four chances against Detroit when Skubal is on the mound this year.
Right-hander George Kirby is set to take the hill for Seattle. He pitched five strong innings, striking out eight while allowing two runs on six hits and one walk in the Mariners’ Game 1 loss.

The Tigers are rolling out five left-handed bats against Kirby, which includes Mariners nemesis Kerry Carpenter in the leadoff spot. Carpenter hit a crucial two-run home run off Kirby in the fifth inning of Game 1. He’s 5 for 11 with five home runs for his career against Kirby, including the playoffs.
Carpenter will be followed by second baseman Gleyber Torres, left fielder Riley Greene, first baseman Spencer Torkelson, designated hitter Colt Keith, third baseman Zach McKinstry, catcher Dillon Dingler, center fielder Parker Meadows and shortstop Javier Báez.
