With Cal Raleigh now on the list, here’s every Mariners 3-HR game ever

The one thing Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh didn’t pull off during his remarkable 2025 season was hit three home runs in a single game. But he checked that off the list Monday night.

Raleigh cleared the wall in right field three times to lead the M’s to a 9-2 victory over Philadelphia, marking the 15th time in team history a player has hit three home runs in a game – and snapping the Phillies’ nine-game win streak in the process.

Here’s the full list of games when Mariners players went yard three times (or more).

1. Jeff Burroughs – Aug. 14, 1981 at Minnesota Twins

A two-time All-Star outfielder who had 41 homers in 1977 with Atlanta, Burroughs spent just one of his 16 MLB seasons with Seattle. Though he had only 10 home runs in his 89 games as a Mariner, three came in one game.

2. Gorman Thomas – April 11, 1985 vs. Oakland Athletics

The first MLB Draft pick in Seattle history – Seattle Pilots history, that is – Thomas became a star with the Milwaukee Brewers in the late 1970s. He finally arrived in Seattle in 1984, then set the franchise single-season record at the time with 32 homers in 1985, which he started with a bang with this huge day at the Kingdome in just the third game of the season.

3. Jim Presley – Sept. 1, 1986 vs. Detroit Tigers

A young third baseman at the time, Presley put an exclamation point on his lone All-Star season by leaving the yard thrice in a losing effort against the Tigers. He finished the year with 27 homers and a career-high 107 RBIs.

4. Mickey Brantley – Sept. 14, 1987 vs. Cleveland Indians

Hitting out of the leadoff spot, Brantley made it three straight years where the Mariners had a three-homer game, all of which came at the Kingdome. He drove in seven runs, though it wasn’t enough as Cleveland won 11-8.

5. Dan Wilson – April 11, 1996 at Detroit Tigers

Seattle’s current manager, “Dan the Man” wasn’t known for hitting homers during his playing career. His best year at the plate was 1996, though, when he smacked a career-high 18 homers and made his lone All-Star team. Not only did he provide a good amount of offense in this game, but he caught all nine innings of a combined three-hitter that included Randy Johnson striking out 12 over 7 1/2 innings.

6. Ken Griffey Jr. – May 24, 1996 vs. New York Yankees

Junior torturing the Yankees? Well, that’s a bit on the nose. Less than two months after Wilson broke a nearly decade-long drought of three-homer games for the Mariners, Griffey did it for the first time in this 10-4 win.

7. Edgar Martinez – July 6, 1996 at Texas Rangers

The 1996 Mariners sure liked to hit homers. In fact, they would have set the MLB record for most homers in a season by a team that year if the Baltimore Orioles didn’t hit 12 more to take the mantle (for only a short time). Edgar flexed his muscles with a trio of solo shots in this 9-5 win in Arlington.

8. Ken Griffey Jr. – April 25, 1997 at Toronto Blue Jays

Remember how we said the Orioles held the mantle for only a short time? That’s because the ’97 Mariners took the crown for most homers in a season with 264, a record that would stand for 21 years. Griffey led the way with 56 in what was an MVP season, and his three in this 13-8 win in Toronto gave him 13 in his first 21 games – a pace of 100 homers for a 162-game season.

9. Edgar Martinez – May 18, 1999 vs. Minnesota Twins

Edgar matched Griffey’s team record of two three-homer games in a 10-1 blowout of the Twins, and this was the last to happen in the Kingdome. The Mariners would move across the street to Safeco Field (now T-Mobile Park) less than two months later.

10. Alex Rodriguez – April 16, 2000 at Toronto Blue Jays

ARod is tied for third all-time with five career games with three home runs, and the first came in an M’s uniform in the Skydome.

11. Mike Cameron – May 2, 2002 at Chicago White Sox

Cammy had maybe the best game ever by a Mariners player, hitting not just three home runs in this 15-4 laugher of a win in the Windy City but in fact a Seattle record four. He just missed becoming the first player in MLB history with a five-homer game, too, flying out to deep right field in his final trip to the plate in the ninth inning.

12. Jose Lopez – Sept. 22, 2010 at Toronto Blue Jays

There’s something about Toronto for Mariners hitters. Lopez became the third Mariner with a trio of homers in the Skydome (now known as Rogers Center) in what proved to be the one-time All-Star’s last season with Seattle.

13. Kyle Seager – Aug. 13, 2019 at Detroit Tigers

Of course, the Mariners like to hit homers against the Tigers, too. Seager became the third Mariners player to hit three homers against Detroit, though he got help on the last of them as the ball bounced off the glove of Tigers center fielder Niko Goodrum and over the fence.

14. Dominic Canzone – Sept. 16, 2025 at Kansas City Royals

Seattle’s lefty slugger really broke out in this one, also going 5 for 5 on the day at the plate in a 12-5 Mariners win. The big day proved to be a precursor to Canzone’s 2026 season, as he currently has a career-high 19 homers and is slashing .256/.330/.478 for an .808 OPS.

15. Cal Raleigh – Aug. 24, 2026 vs. Philadelphia Phillies

There’s a couple of Mariners firsts hidden in this one. It was the first three-homer game by a Seattle player in interleague play, and it was the first time a Mariners player hit three homers at T-Mobile Park. It’s been a trying season for Raleigh on the heels of his historic 60-homer campaign in 2025, but Monday’s incredible feat gives hope that the Big Dumper can get it going and help the Mariners make back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in 25 years.
