A day after he delivered one of the greatest single-game performances in the Seattle Mariners history, Randy Arozarena reached a career milestone in his first at-bat during Sunday’s series finale against the Chicago Cubs.

Arozarena led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to left field that landed in the Cubs’ bullpen, give Seattle an early 1-0 lead. It was Arozarena’s 20th home run this season, giving him his sixth consecutive season with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. The left fielder also has 20 stolen bases this season.

Arozarena homered off a splitter at the bottom of the zone from left-hander Shota Imanaga, send it 358 feet.

Arozarena became just the 11th player in MLB history to have six career seasons with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.

Arozarena’s leadoff homer Sunday came after a monster performance in Saturday’s 5-4 win over Chicago. In that game, Arozarena hit a leadoff home run on the first pitch, robbed home run on defense and hit a walkoff home run in the bottom of the ninth. He became just the third player in league history to hit a first-pitch leadoff homer and walkoff homer in the same game.

The leadoff homer Sunday made Arozarena the first Mariner to leadoff homers in consecutive games since J.P. Crawford in June 8-9, 2024.

According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, Arozarena became just the second player in MLB history to hit two leadoff homers and walkoff homer in a two-game span. The other is Cubs center fielder Pete-Crow Armstrong, who did so earlier this week.
