Former UW football player Reggie Rogers dies at age 49

Former University of Washington football player Reggie Rogers was found dead at his Seattle home on Thursday.

KING-TV reports sources say Rogers, 49, may have died of a drug overdose. The Seattle Times reports neighbors overheard medics say it might have been a heart attack.

Rogers played defensive end at Washington from 1984-1986 under coach Don James.

Rogers was arrested earlier this month after his wife told police he hit her on the head with a flashlight in an argument about his drinking.

He has a history of six drunken driving convictions, including a crash in 1988 in Pontiac, Michigan that killed three teenagers.

A first-round draft pick by the Detroit Lions in 1987, Rogers returned to the NFL after a prison sentence for vehicular homicide, but was released in 1992 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
