FS Earl Thomas listed as ‘questionable’ for Seahawks-Eagles

It sounds as though as Seahawks safety Earl Thomas (heel) may start against the Eagles after he was an unexpected addition to Seattle’s injury report. Head coach Pete Carroll said the All-Pro safety was “fine” when speaking with reporters Friday afternoon.

Thomas missed two games earlier this season with a hamstring strain, and is the only remaining active player from Seattle’s trio of All-Pro defensive backs. Cornerback Richard Sherman (Achilles) and safety Kam Chancellor (neck) are out for the remainder of the season.
Cornerback Shaquill Griffin (concussion) is expected to make a return this week, though, which will help bolster the secondary. Tight end Luke Willson (concussion) and running back Mike Davis (groin) are also expected to play.
Four other players were listed as questionable, including left tackle Duane Brown (ankle), tight end Jimmy Graham (ankle), linebacker D.J. Alexander (shoulder), and linebacker Bobby Wagner (hamstring). Carroll was optimistic about Alexander’s ability to play. Wagner, Brown and Graham all missed practice and were listed as questionable last week, but all three started – which will presumably be the case Sunday.
Dion Jordan (neck) is doubtful, and Carroll didn’t sound optimistic about him starting.
“I don’t think anything can change to elevate him from (doubtful),” Carroll said. “It’s going to take another week I think.”
Defensive tackle Nazair Jones turned his ankle in practice and is also listed as doubtful; he’ll likely be a gametime decision. The team added insurance at the position by promoting Rodney Coe from the practice squad earlier this week.
In addition to Chancellor, two other Seahawks have been ruled out for Sunday night: guard Oday Aboushi (shoulder) and linebacker Josh Forrest (foot).
Carroll also had encouraging news on the status of veteran cornerback DeShawn Shead, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in January.
“He had a great week and he looked really good. The question is when do we bring him back to practice now; he’s that close.”
