The Seahawks’ secondary will begin life without Richard Sherman next Monday night, but the Legion of Boom should have its other first-team All-Pro member back in action.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told Brock and Salk that free safety Earl Thomas is expected to return against the Atlanta Falcons after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury.

Jim Moore: Time for Seahawks to let Russell Wilson loose

“I think he’ll make it back,” Carroll said. “He felt like he probably could have played (last Thursday against Arizona) had he gotten a couple days of practice in, so it worked out great, we made it through the game.”

The Seahawks may need to use Bradley McDougald, Thomas’ replacement at free safety while he was out, at strong safety if Kam Chancellor can’t play due to a stinger suffered against Arizona, however.

“We don’t know yet,” Carroll said of Chancellor’s status. “He’s gonna get some tests and make sure. This is the stuff that is so crucial we do a really good job and take our time with it.”

Seattle will also have to wait and see on left tackle Duane Brown, who suffered an ankle injury in his second game since being acquired by the Seahawks from Houston.

“Hopefully he’ll practice a little bit this week and have a chance. We don’t know that yet,” Carroll said of Brown.
