LISTEN: Seahawks LB Michael Wilhoite on preparing for Giants' offense

After injuries decimated the New York Giants’ receiving corps, their offense had a different look to it last week. It worked out better than anyone could have expected, too, as New York won its first game all season, beating the Denver Broncos – and its top-ranked defense – 23-10 using a lot of two-tight end sets and a suddenly formidable rushing attack.

That’s all good news for Seahawks linebacker Michael Wilhoite, whose role puts him on the field as much as possible when multiple tight ends are used by opposing offenses.

“Hopefully they’ll run that the whole game and I’ll be able to play a lot,” he said to John Clayton on 710 ESPN Seattle ahead of Sunday’s Seahawks-Giants game. “I want to be out there as much as possible.”

Even with the majority of their receivers out of action, including Odell Beckham Jr., Wilhoite doesn’t discount what the Giants can do on offense, both on the ground and in the air.

“They had four receivers down (with injuries). … The easy adjustment is you put another tight end on the field to replace a receiver, and 88 (Evan Engram) runs like a receiver, plays just like a receiver if not better in terms of route-running and pass-catching,” Wilhoite said. “… And they run the ball well. They’ve got a good, physical system. They run it up between the tackles.

“This will be a good test of us on the road.”
