Safety Earl Thomas was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his phenomenal performance Sunday in the Seahawks’ 16-10 win over the Rams. Thomas made what might have been the key play of the game for Seattle when he tackled Rams running back Todd Gurley at the goal line, chopping the football loose and forcing Gurley to fumble the ball into the pylon. The Seahawks were awarded possession in a rarely-seen turnover rule.

The play stole the show and was the first of five turnovers for the Seahawks, but Thomas also accounted for another interception in the fourth quarter.
