If you missed “The Hot Stove” Tuesday night on 710 ESPN Seattle, well, you know the drill … we have a podcast.

Jon Paul Morosi from FOX Sports kicked off the first hour and gave the national perspective on the Mariners. He likes the offseason moves but feels the pitching will once again lead the way. Morosi who was at the Caribbean World Series earlier this month also gave some interesting insight on what impact the sudden availability of Cuban players could have on baseball in the coming years.

Mike Zunino joined us from Peoria – yes, he is there early – and talked about his offseason work and the new approach he would like to have at the plate. Interestingly enough, he is already looking to a new Mariner for help with his offense.

The Mariners added the position of full-time infield coach last year and Chris Woodward returns again this year. I think there is little question it paid off to have someone in that position and Woodward gave a great look at the work that went in last year. He talked about what was the biggest surprise for him, what he sees from shortstops Brad Miller and Chris Taylor and also how good he thinks Robinson Cano is at second base and how he can get better.

Head athletic trainer Rick Griffin was our last guest and his segment took an interesting turn when he was asked about his former job as a professional rodeo trainer. Can you guess who he thinks would be the best bull rider on the team? Griffin did talk some baseball and answered my question about keeping pitchers healthy.

We will have another edition of “The Hot Stove” next Tuesday and then start the “Cactus League Report” the following Wednesday.
