Seahawks QB Sam Darnold makes big climb in NFL Top 100

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold made a massive leap on the NFL Top 100 players list, surging up to No. 21 on Friday in the annual rankings that are voted on by players across the league.

It marks a 51-spot climb for Darnold, who made his Top 100 debut last summer at No. 72.

After a breakout 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold continued to reshape the narrative around his career during a 2025 Super Bowl-winning campaign with Seattle.

Darnold earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod and finished eighth in the NFL in completion rate (67.7%), fifth in passing yards (4,048), tied for ninth in touchdown passes (25) and second in yards per pass attempt (8.5). He committed a league-high 20 turnovers, but closed with four consecutive turnover-free games from Week 18 through the Super Bowl.

Darnold delivered the best performance of his career in the NFC Championship Game, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns while making an array of big-time throws in Seattle’s 31-27 win over the archrival Los Angeles Rams.

Darnold is just the second Seahawks player so far to make the list, which the NFL has been unveiling in reverse order throughout the summer. He joins second-team All-Pro linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was ranked No. 97.

Other quarterbacks ranked so far are Dallas’ Dak Prescott (No. 31), Detroit’s Jared Goff (No. 33), the Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert (No. 39), Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow (No. 44), Chicago’s Caleb Williams (No. 51), Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts (No. 56), Denver’s Bo Nix (No. 59), Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence (No. 62), Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (No. 69), Green Bay’s Jordan Love (No. 72), Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield (No. 77), San Francisco’s Brock Purdy (No. 85) and Carolina’s Bryce Young (No. 98).

A 2024 GQ Sports article reported that NFL Top 100 voting occurs between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it’s unclear if that’s still the case.
