Brock: The Seahawks snatched the Cardinals’ souls

Brock Huard says the Seahawks' dominance of the Cardinals on Sunday is a rare sight in the NFL.

The Seattle Seahawks have had some dominant victories since the start of last season. Their 31-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday was another one of them.

The defense held the Cardinals to only a second-quarter touchdown drive. It surrendered just 151 yards on 47 plays (3.2 yards per play). It forced four three-and-outs while surrendering just 10 first downs.

And as the defense delivered yet another strong performance, the offense churned out 162 rushing yards on a whopping 40 carries and struck early with a big play when Drew Lock found Jaxon Smith-Njigba for an 82-yard TD on its opening drive.

It was a soul-snatching performance by the Seahawks, according to former NFL quarterback Brock Huard. You can see his full reaction to the game below.

It is really hard to snatch a competitor’s soul and will in the NFL, but that’s exactly what the Seahawks did there, especially in the second half. You just don’t see that. You see it in Little League football, you see it sometimes in high school football – where you just snatch the other team’s will and desire and just break them down. Not very often in college and almost never in the NFL.

You could see runaway games like we did last year where the Seahawks blew people out because of so many turnovers and giveaways. That wasn’t the case in the desert today. Arizona came out as fired up as I think I’ve ever seen them against the Seahawks. They were talking, they were energized, they were juiced. I think they had a belief and a will that they could win and compete…

I think my favorite line in the broadcast was (color analyst) Mark Schlereth saying Arizona and that defensive front is tripping over their tongues. They were exhausted because of the physical, mental, emotional beatdown that, once again, the Seahawks put on the Cardinals in the desert. They own that place, it is Seattle South. And that was about as, well, humiliating of a second half for Arizona, and I would think confidence-building second half for the Seattle Seahawks – the 2-0 Seattle Seahawks.
