Denzel Boston’s long TD highlights debuts for UW Huskies in NFL

The NFL season kicked off last week, as did the careers for several first-year pros from the UW Huskies.

The Huskies had seven players selected in the 2026 draft. Below is a look at how each fared in Week 1 of their first NFL seasons.

WR Denzel Boston

It was a rough opener for the Cleveland Browns as they fell 34-10 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Boston provided the lone highlights in the game’s closing minutes.

With Cleveland trailing 34-3 and 2 minutes left on the clock, the second-round pick got behind Jacksonville’s defense and hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson for his first career score and second catch of the day.

Boston, a graduate Puyallup’s Emerald Ridge High School, led Cleveland with 59 yards on two receptions.

RB Jonah Coleman

Coleman served as the third running back and played three snaps without registering any stats in the Denver Broncos’ 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

OL Carver Willis

Willis, a fourth-round draft pick, logged six snaps on special teams as the San Francisco 49ers’ 27-7 beat the Los Angeles Rams during the NFL’s first-ever game in Australia.

CB Tacario Davis

Davis, a third-round pick, finished with one tackle while logging four snaps on defense and eight on special teams in the Cincinnati Bengals’ season-opening 33-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Davis appeared to have his first career interception on his first career snap, but it was wiped out by a defensive pass interference call.

DE Zach Durfee

Durfee, a seventh-round pick, is out until at least Week 5 with an upper-body injury after being placed on injured reserve with a designation to return by the Jaguars on Aug. 30.

DT Anterio Thompson

Thompson, a sixth-round pick, is out until at least Week 5 due to being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list by the Atlanta Falcons with an undisclosed injury in late July.

CB Ephesians Prysock

Prysock, a fourth-round pick, was a healthy scratch as one of the 49ers’ six inactive players in their win over the Rams.
