Storm guard Samuelson out for season after knee surgery

Another Seattle Storm player is set to miss the remainder of the WNBA season.

The Storm announced Friday guard Kate Lou Samuelson will be out for the team’s final four games after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on her left knee Thursday. The news comes one day after it was announced that forward Ezi Magbegor tore her left ACL while playing for Australia during the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup this week.

Storm’s Ezi Magbegor suffers season-ending injury at World Cup

This is the second time Samuelson has suffered a knee injury since coming back for a second stint with the Storm last season. She missed all of 2025 and the first six games of this season after sustaining a torn ACL in her right knee during training camp last year.

The 6-foot-3 Samuelson averaged 4.4 points and 2.1 rebounds over 32 games for Seattle this year. She is signed with the Storm through the 2027 season. The UConn product was also a member of Seattle’s 2021 playoff team.

The Storm have just four games remaining when the WNBA returns from the World Cup break. Seattle, which next plays next Thursday when it hosts the Las Vegas Aces, has the worst record in the WNBA this season at 8-32.
