M’s place Milner on family medical emergency list, recall reliever

The Seattle Mariners placed lefty reliever Hoby Milner on the family medical emergency list on Friday.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Troy Taylor was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

Friday was the second straight day the M’s placed a player on the family medical emergency list. Outfielder Victor Robles was put on the list Thursday.

Milner, who was released by the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 30, has appeared in two games for Seattle since he was signed on Sept. 1, allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout over 1 1/3 innings. In 40 total appearances this season, the 35 year old has a 4.14 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 19 strikeouts to nine walks over 35 2/3 innings.

Taylor, 24, is back in the big leagues for the first time since last season. He has a 4.99 ERA and 1.76 WHIP with 60 strikeouts to 35 walks over 52 1/3 innings in 50 appearances for Tacoma this year.

Taylor has appeared in parts of two MLB seasons for the Mariners, posting a career 5.88 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 27 strikeouts and 10 walks over 26 innings.

A 12th-round pick in the 2022 draft, Taylor put together a solid showing for the M’s down the stretch in 2024 after an August promotion. He had a 3.72 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 19 1/3 innings in 21 outings, which included six holds and his first career save. But he struggled while in the big leagues in 2025 to the tune of a 12.15 ERA with 14 hits and nine runs allowed over 6 2/3 innings.
