Mariners Moves: Victor Robles to family medical emergency list; DFA’d players retained

The Seattle Mariners placed outfielder Victor Robles on the family medical emergency list before Thursday’s series opener at T-Mobile Park against the Athletics.

Taking Robles’ place on the 28-man active roster is outfielder Stuart Fairchild.

The Mariners also recalled outfielder Brennan Davis from Triple-A Tacoma and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, and outrighted outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe and right-handed pitcher Nolan Kingham to Tacoma after they cleared waivers.

Players may spend three to seven days on the family medical emergency list.

The 29-year-old Robles is hitting .260 with no home runs, 10 stolen bases and a .632 OPS in 62 games for the Mariners this year.

Fairchild, 30, is a Seattle native who has appeared in one game for his hometown team this season. With Tacoma, the Seattle Prep product is hitting .288 with five home runs, eight stolen bases and a .961 OPS in 30 games.

Joe and Kingham were both with Tacoma prior to Monday, when they were designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Seattle to add rookie outfielder Lazaro Montes and veteran left-handed reliever Hoby Milner as the active roster expanded for September from 26 to 28 players.

The Mariners open their series against the A’s at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, with Mariners Radio Network coverage on Seattle Sports starting at 5:30 with the pregame show. They enter the game four games back of a playoff spot with 22 games to go.
