Seahawks announce initial 17-man practice squad for 2026

The Seattle Seahawks on Monday announced their initial 17-man practice squad, which includes former two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs and all four of the team’s rookie Day 3 draft picks.

But notably, Seattle’s practice squad doesn’t include safety D’Anthony Bell, cornerback Noah Igbinoghene or wide receiver Cody White. All three were expected to sign with the practice squad after being released during the team’s roster cutdown from 91 to 53 players on Sunday.

Bell, who started two games for Seattle last season, was a potential option to help fill the team’s big-nickel role if standout safety Nick Emmanwori isn’t ready to return from ankle surgery by Week 1.

Igbinoghene, who signed with Seattle in March, was among several players seemingly in the mix for snaps at the third cornerback spot. Other potential CB3 options for the Seahawks are Diggs, Nehemiah Pritchett, rookie third-round draft pick Julian Neal and recent rookie trade acquisition Avery Smith. The latter three are each on Seattle’s 53-man roster.

White appeared in 14 games over the past two seasons while bouncing between the Seahawks’ active roster and practice squad. He seemed in the mix for a back-end roster spot after wide receiver Jake Bobo suffered a season-ending injury on Aug. 21.

White ended up signing with the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad, which reunites him with former Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Meanwhile, every player on Seattle’s practice squad was with the team this preseason before being waived or released during Sunday’s roster cutdown.

Diggs is one of three players on the practice squad who are vested veterans, along with safety Rodney Thomas II and running back Velus Jones Jr. That meant they weren’t subject to waivers after being released.

The Seahawks’ remaining 14 practice squad players had to pass through waivers before signing on Monday.

That group includes four rookie draft picks – sixth-round wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr., seventh-round cornerback Aaron Fuller, seventh-round nose tackle Deven Eastern and seventh-round cornerback Michael Dansby. Seattle’s other four 2026 draft picks made the 53-man roster.

Other notable players on the Seahawks’ practice squad include fourth-year safety AJ Finley, second-year wideout Ricky White III and undrafted rookie nose tackle Uso Seumalo.
