Seattle has recalled right-handed relief pitcher Cole Wilcox from Triple-A Tacoma, with lefty reliever Josh Simpson optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.

As for the lineup, neither Dominic Canzone nor Luke Raley are starting against Angels right-hander José Soriano. Canzone and Raley, who are both lefty-swinging outfielders, have been dealing with lingering injuries. Canzone has a sore hamstring, though he has played through it the past four games and even hit his 13th home run in Monday’s 6-2 Mariners win. Raley has a left forearm issue and has not played since Saturday.

The Mariners have a rare mid-series day off Wednesday due to a World Cup match taking place across the street at Lumen Field, which manager Dan Wilson said the team is taking advantage of by giving Canzone and Raley an extra day off Tuesday before they conclude the series against the Angels on Thursday night. Per Mike Lefko of Seattle Sports, Wilson said Canzone will not be available off the bench Tuesday.

With Canzone and Raley out of action, the Mariners have Randy Arozarena serving as the designated hitter, with Victor Robles taking over for him in left field and Weston Wilson playing right field.

Here’s Tuesday’s full M’s lineup:

The 26-year-old Wilcox rejoins the Mariners’ bullpen for the first time since being optioned to the minors on May 4. In 11 appearances for Seattle this season, he has a 5.40 ERA with 15 strikeouts and 12 walks over 13 1/3 innings. A November acquisition from Tampa Bay, Wilcox has a 5.03 ERA in 17 appearances in Triple-A. He was a third-round MLB Draft pick by San Diego in 2020 out of Georgia, where he was college teammates with M’s starting pitcher Emerson Hancock.

Simpson, 28, has appeared in four games this year for Seattle, allowing three runs in three innings for a 9.00 ERA with three strikeouts. In 20 Triple-A appearances, he has a 2.08 ERA. He was a February addition from Miami.

The Mariners enter Tuesday’s game with a 43-43 record, which is a half-game back of the Texas Rangers (43-42) for first place in the AL West. Seattle is still in playoff position, sitting 1 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Astros (42-45) for the third and final wild card in the AL.

Mariners Radio Network coverage on Seattle Sports of Tuesday’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. with the pregame show.
