Report: Vikings to hire Seahawks’ Kirchner as assistant GM

Seattle Seahawks vice president of player personnel Trent Kirchner is joining Nolan Teasley in Minnesota as an assistant general manger for the Vikings, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

What the Seahawks are saying about new OC and his offense

Kirchner is one of two assistant GMs being hired by Minnesota. The organization is also bringing in Cleveland Browns vice president of research and strategy Andrew Healy as an assistant general manager, per Rapoport.

Kirchner, who is entering his 27th NFL season, has been with the Seahawks since 2010, serving various roles in player personnel over 16 seasons with the organization. He’s been with the franchise for three Super Bowl appearances, including two victories, and six NFC West titles.

In his position as vice president of player personnel, Kirchner over saw college scouting and pro personnel and was heavily involved in roster construction and player acquisition.

Rapoport noted Kirchner is “widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top talent evaluators.”

Minnesota’s reported hiring of Kirchner comes nearly two weeks after reports first surfaced that the Vikings were hiring Teasley as their general manager. Teasley had spent the previous 13 years with Seattle, including the last three as assistant general manager.
