Sherman, Seahawks hitting endorsement deal bonanza

From soup to sports drinks, Richard Sherman continues to cash in on his Super Bowl-fueled celebrity, as the endorsement deals keep pouring in for the Seahawks’ standout and some of his teammates.

On Monday, came official word that Sherman had struck an agreement with rising sports drink manufacturer BODYARMOR SuperDrink. Along with appearing in ads, he’s also an investor in the fledgling company.

You’ll be seeing plenty of SuperDrink ads online and in stores, with a campaign launching in Seattle and Portland this month. Sherman is joined by fellow Stanford grad and Colts star Andrew Luck, NBA great Kobe Bryant and others.

“You just try to go with brands that side with your beliefs and your work ethic and what you think you are as a player and try to stay away from brands that you don’t feel relate to you as a player and really work for you,” Sherman tells The Seattle Times.

Sherman will also be showing up a lot with his mom Beverly, after inking a new deal with Campbell’s Soup to star in the popular Chunky Soup “Mama’s Boy” campaign. The Shermans will be featured in print, digital and TV commercials scheduled to start shooting right away. The ads will begin airing in August in conjunction with the start of the NFL season.

Last month, Kent-based Oberto rolled out a new national ad campaign featuring Sherman promoting the company’s line of all-natural jerky products, on the same day the All-Pro cornerback signed a four-year contract extension worth a whopping $57.4 million.

Sherman also appeared earlier this year in a commercial for popular headphone manufacturer Beats by Dre, and he previously had deals with CenturyLink and Nike.

Sherman’s not the only member of the Super Bowl champs cashing in on their relatively new-found national fame. Russell Wilson has scored a bevy of new endorsement deals including Microsoft and Alaska Air, to go along with his previous role as pitchman for American Family Insurance, Levi’s and others.

And the usually reticent Marshawn Lynch scored an endorsement deal of his own earlier this year with Skittles, thanks to his lifelong love of the candy.

But given the widespread popularity of the Seahawks, you can safely bet there’ll be plenty of other big deals ahead for Seattle’s stars.
