FOX Sports’ Joe Buck gets a lot of flak from Seahawks fans who feel his play-by-play commentary is biased against their team, but a bet he made with his daughter this weekend would suggest otherwise.
Buck joined his long-time broadcast partner Troy Aikman to call the Seahawks game against the Packers in Green Bay. The Seahawks played dismally on both sides of the ball in what was the team’s most lopsided loss in five years, but Buck entered the game with supreme confidence in the team – specifically quarterback Russell Wilson. Buck told 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Brock and Salk” that he had so much confidence that he offered some game-day advice to his 17-year-old daughter about her fantasy football team.
“I inserted myself into her fantasy football world because she had Matt Ryan and she has Russell Wilson,” Buck said Tuesday. “Wilson, I think was her first pick or second pick, and I said, ‘Look, I know you want to play Matt Ryan against the Rams, who are sad right now. But I just don’t see Russell Wilson not having a huge game today at Green Bay.’ Her text that killed me was, ‘I don’t agree, but I’ll trust you, dad.'”

Buck said he kept his eye on Ryan’s 237-yard, three touchdown performance while calling the Seahawks, with Wilson throwing three first-half interceptions.
“That’s how much I believed Wilson was going to have a great day,” he said. ”I almost lost a daughter over this.”
But it didn’t end there. Ryan’s day had already finished and as the Seahawks came out for the second half, Buck said he texted his daughter a new proposal.
“I said, ‘I’ll bet you $100 Russell Wilson ends up with more points than Matt Ryan,'” Buck said. “So I doubled down on it, and I came back and she was waiting, and I handed her $100.”
Wilson ended the day with a career-worst five interceptions. Buck, who recently published a book about his life and his father, legendary broadcaster Jack Buck, acknowledged that the title “Lucky Bastard” was not the most accurate on Sunday.
“No, I’m unlucky and almost had one of my two daughters just pack a knapsack and start walking,” he joked.

Buck told “Brock and Salk” that despite Seattle’s “stunning” defeat, he expects the Seahawks to run the table the last three games against Rams, Cardinals and 49ers to the No. 2 seed in the NFC. In fact, he tripled down on his expectations on Thursday’s matchup with the Rams, who fired head coach Jeff Fisher on Monday but have defeated the Seahawks in four of the last five matchups, including in Week 2 of this season.
“I know all the voodoo magic that the Rams have over the Seahawks,” Buck said. “If somehow the Rams win in Seattle this Thursday, there needs to be an investigation because, it’s just, there’s no way. Absolutely no way.”
