The Seahawks have agreed to a trade with Houston for offensive tackle Duane Brown that would send cornerback Jeremy Lane and two draft picks to the Texans.

The deal, which was first reported by ESPN, had been agreed upon but not finalized as of early Monday evening, according to Seattle general manager John Schneider as he met with members of the media at team headquarters in Renton.

Schlereth: Reported Duane Brown trade ‘a steal’ for Seahawks

The Seahawks would be sending a 2018 fifth-round draft pick and 2019 second-round selection to Houston as part of the trade, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Brown, 32, is a three-time Pro Bowler. He played his first game of the season on Sunday, coincidentally in Seattle against the Seahawks, after holding out for the first six games due to a contract dispute.

Seattle has been linked to Brown in trade rumors, most notably on Sunday morning when Jimmy Graham’s name was attached to reported talks in a tweet by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Seahawks general manager John Schneider shot down any rumors of Graham being traded on Sunday afternoon.

Like Brown, the 27-year-old Lane has seemingly been on the outs in Seattle. He was recently displaced from his starting job by rookie Shaquill Griffin, and he appeared to voice his displeasure with the move in a tweet last week.

Lane shared a tweet late Monday afternoon thanking Seattle for his time with the team after news of the proposed trade broke.

Brown would give the Seahawks a significant boost at left tackle, where they lost presumed starter George Fant in the preseason due to injury. Seattle is 5-2 this season in spite of struggling to get its running attack going, an area Brown should provide aid in. The Seahawks rank 21st in the NFL in rushing at 97.6 yards per game on the ground.

Brown is under contract through the 2018 season and is scheduled to make $9.75 million next year, according to spotrac.com.

The NFL’s trade deadline is Tuesday.
