Storm’s Ezi Magbegor to miss start of season with injury

It appears the Seattle Storm will begin the 2026 season without one of their key players.

The Storm announced Monday on social media that 6-foot-4 forward Ezi Magbegor suffered a right foot injury while playing for Australia in the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers in Istanbul last month.

Updates on Magbegor’s recovery will be made available in six to eight weeks, the Storm said.

The Storm open their season May 8 against the Golden State Valkyries.

Magbegor, who was a WNBA All-Star in 2023, is a four-time WNBA All-Defensive selection. The six-year veteran averaged 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 44 games last season. She led the WNBA with a career-high 96 blocks last year.

The Storm announced last week that they re-signed Magbegor, who has spent her entire career in Seattle. She was a first-round draft pick by the Storm in 2019.
