Wyman: OL Mason Richman stood out at Seahawks OTA practice

The Seattle Seahawks held their first OTA practice on Tuesday, which gave former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman and other media members a chance to see the reigning Super Bowl champions at work for the first time this spring.

And when discussing what stood out, Wyman mentioned a surprising name: second-year offensive lineman Mason Richman.

“I just watched him do some drills, and I can’t quantify this, but you have to trust me because my eyes tell me – he is much faster, he’s playing faster … and he just looked really good,” Wyman said on Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob. “He looked different.”

Richman, 2025 seventh-round draft pick out of Iowa, appeared in just two regular-season games last season, logging one offensive snap and 11 special teams snaps. He also had five special teams snaps in the NFC title game.

But Richman did spend the entire season on the 53-man roster, which is no small detail considering the immense depth and talent of Seattle’s 2025 championship team.

Wyman, who is the longtime analyst on Seahawks Radio Network game broadcasts, acknowledged it’s difficult to glean too much from this stage of the NFL’s offseason program, given the non-contact nature of practices. But nevertheless, the 6-foot-5, 307-pound Richman caught his attention.

“Guys are out there running around with no pads on and no contact and everything, but every once in a while you see a guy like Mason Richman that just looks different,” Wyman said. “He just does.”

Fitting into the O-line

It’ll be interesting to see how Richman figures into Seattle’s depth chart going forward.

Richman started 52 games at left tackle as a four-year starter at Iowa, but is listed as both a tackle and a guard on the Seahawks’ roster. It’s possible he could factor in – along with 2026 fifth-round pick Beau Stephens and 2025 sixth-round pick Bryce Cabeldue – as a potential challenger to Anthony Bradford’s right guard job.

Richman also may have the flexibility to provide depth at center. He played center during the preseason last year and worked a bit at center during Tuesday’s practice.
