What they said: Detroit Lions on 26-6 playoff loss to Seahawks

The Seahawks followed running back Thomas Rawls and a stout defense to drop the Detroit Lions in the wild-card playoff game Saturday at CenturyLink Field. Here’s what Lions players had to say after the game to the media:

WR Anquan Boldin on penalties not going Detroit’s way: “We expected that, to be honest with you. There were some calls that left us shaking our head. I’m sure you guys know exactly what I’m talking about. It is what it is. Any time you come into a place like this, you know you have to play more than just the team. We talked about it during the week. We can’t let that affect how we play. We still have to come in and play football.”

TE Eric Ebron on whether the Lions beat themselves: “It’s a very short degree to which we beat ourselves. We played a football game pretty much for each other, because there was nothing that was going to help us or aid us in that victory. I had one drop where I easily could have turned that into a first down. I tried to run before it. That hurt. We killed drives. We kept trying to talk to each other, keep our spirits up but as a receiver group, we failed at that today.”

Safety Glover Quin: “We felt good at the half. We felt like we were right where we needed to be. We came out in the second half and we couldn’t get stops defensively, couldn’t stop the run, kept them in third and manageable and had some penalties that hurt us.”

Defensive end Devin Taylor on not stopping the run: “Honestly I have no idea. He was just able to find that little crease where he was able to get yards. He’s a hard runner so it’s not like he’s an easy person to tackle. He broke some tackles and was able to get out to the perimeter. ”

Wide receiver TJ Jones on no call on pass intended for him: “You definitely go from a quick high to a quick low when you see them tuck the flag. … Very catchable. Very catchable. If I saw it correctly, it didn’t land more than a yard or two in front of me.”

QB Matthew Stafford on 25 years without a playoff win: “I don’t feel any burden. I’m a piece of the puzzle. No doubt a big one at the quarterback position. You give your team a chance to win. We were able to do that a bunch of times this year but obviously didn’t get it done today.”

Coach Jim Caldwell on the no-call on Paul Richardson’s TD catch: “I’m not going to go into all that. That’s not why we lost the game. Calls are calls, you have to overcome them. We just didn’t play well enough.”
