Seahawks claim DT Garrison Smith, sign six to practice squad

A day after setting their 53-man roster, the Seahawks officially added six players to the team’s practice squad, five of whom played with Seattle over the summer. Here is the breakdown:

Signed to the practice squad: Defensive lineman Tylor Harris, linebacker Kache Palacio, offensive lineman Will Pericak and wide receivers Rodney Smith and Kasen Williams and Kenny Lawler. Lawler was the Seahawks’ seventh-round pick this season. Williams starred for the University of Washington and played in two games for the Seahawks in 2015.

Claimed off waivers: Defensive tackle Garrison Smith, who registered two sacks and 15 tackles during the preseason with the 49ers. The 24-year-old out of the University of Georgia, was an undrafted free agent and spent last season on San Francisco’s practice squad.

Waived: Defensive tackle Justin Hamilton.

Cleared waivers and placed on injured reserve: Defensive tackle Jordan Hill, linebacker Eric Pinkins, tackle Terry Poole and tight end Joe Sommers.

• ESPN’s NFL transaction wire reports the Seahawks signed the following players to the practice squad: offensive lineman Robert Myers, tight end Marcus Lucas and linebacker Jordan Tripp. The Ravens drafted Myers in the fifth round of the 2015 draft. Lucas was cut by the Panthers and Tripp by the Jaguars.

• Former Seahawks cornerback Marcus Burley signed the Cleveland Browns and preseason standout running back Troymaine Pope joined the New York Jets.
