The Seattle Seahawks signed running back Robert Henry Jr. off the Washington Commanders’ practice squad Tuesday.

Safety AJ Finley was waived to clear room on the 53-man roster for Henry.

The team also placed running back Jacardia Wright on the practice squad injured reserve and signed running back Dontae McMillan to the practice squad to take his place.

Jordan Schultz first reported the Seahawks would be signing Henry on Monday night.

Henry adds to a Seahawks running back room that is currently without rookie Jadarian Price and fourth-year pro Zach Charbonnet. Price, a first-round pick, was placed on injured reserve with a chest injury last week and will miss at least three more games. Charbonnet is still working his way back from a torn ACL suffered during the playoffs in January. He returned to practice last week but will not play this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Mike Macdonald told Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk on Monday.

With the addition of the 24-year-old Henry, the Seahawks now have four running backs on their 53-man roster (also Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Velus Jones Jr.).

Henry, an undrafted rookie, rushed for 1,045 yards and nine TDs while averaging 6.9 yards per carry over 11 games for the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2025. He added 114 yards and two TDs on 18 receptions. Henry’s season included a standout 177-yard, two-touchdown performance on the ground in the season opener against Texas A&M of the powerhouse SEC.

In 35 games over three seasons at UTSA, Henry totaled 2,339 yards and 27 TDs rushing.

Prior to his time at UTSA, Henry played at Jones College in Mississippi. In 2022, he won the inaugural Walter Jones Trophy, which is given to the nation’s top junior college player. The trophy is named after legendary Seahawks left tackle and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Walter Jones.

The 25-year-old Finley, who was signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster ahead of the season opener, has appeared in three games for the Seahawks this season, including making a start in Week 3 against the Commanders. He has five tackles this season. Finley figures to be a candidate to re-sign to Seattle’s practice squad.

Wright, 26, appeared in one game for the Seahawks last season, rushing for 20 yards on five carries.

McMillan, 25, is product of Seattle’s Chief Sealth High School. He went undrafted out of Eastern Michigan this year. During his final season with the Eagles, he rushed for 1,014 yards and four TDs while averaging 5.7 yards per carry in 12 games, adding 375 yards and three TDs on 33 receptions. McMillan was with the Baltimore Ravens during training camp.
