The Seattle Seahawks’ injury report on Wednesday does not instill confidence in the left tackle position for Sunday’s NFC Championship.
None of Seattle’s top three options at left tackle – starter Charles Cross and reserves Josh Jones and Amari Kight – participated in practice Wednesday due to injury concerns.
There’s an area of Rams’ offense Seattle Seahawks can exploit
Cross returned for last week’s divisional round win over the San Francisco 49ers after missing the final three games of the regular season with a hamstring injury, but a knee issue was added to the injury report last week. Now he’s dealing with a foot injury.
Jones was out all of last week and missed the 49ers game with a knee injury. On Wednesday’s practice report, he was listed with both knee and ankle injuries. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald had said earlier Wednesday that Jones was not expected to practice.
Kight, an undrafted rookie from Alabama and Central Florida, has a knee injury. He played well in 17 offensive snaps and seven special teams snaps last weekend.
The Seahawks had a whopping 14 players on Wednesday’s injury report, though three were limited for rest reasons – linebacker Demarcus Lawrence, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and defensive end Leonard Williams.
Quarterback Sam Darnold remained limited in practice with an oblique injury that he first encountered last week in practice. The other limited players were guard Bryce Cabeldue (knee), linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (hamstring) and fullback Robbie Ouzts (neck).
Injury Updates: How Seahawks will handle Darnold this week
The best news for Seattle is that running back George Holani was a full participant in his first practice after being designated to return from injured reserve earlier in the day from a hamstring injury. The Seahawks no doubt would like to see Holani, their typical No. 3 RB, return this week following No. 2 RB Zach Charbonnet’s season-ending ACL tear suffered against the 49ers.
Other Seahawks listed as full participants were linebacker Tyrice Knight (knee), tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee) and linebacker Chazz Surratt (ankle). Arroyo and Surratt were both designated to return from IR in the past two weeks but have yet to be activated back onto the active roster.
The Rams’ injury report was a fraction in size of Seattle’s on Wednesday with just four players listed. Safety Quentin Lake (illness) and linebacker Byron Young (knee) did not participate, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes (shoulder) was limited, and linebacker Josaiah Stewart (knee) was a full participant.
Sunday’s NFC Championship at Seattle’s Lumen Field is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff, with radio coverage on Seattle Sports beginning at noon with the pregame show.
