Seahawks RB Jardarian Price ‘jumped out’ to Daniel Jeremiah in debut

Rookie first-round draft pick Jadarian Price showed some impressive burst while rushing for 52 yards on 10 carries in the Seattle Seahawks’ season-opening 13-10 win over the New England Patriots last week.

Price also showed good efficiency with a 70% success rate, which was tied for third among all qualified NFL running backs in Week 1.

So while it wasn’t an eye-catching stat line, Price’s NFL debut made a strong impression on NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

“There’s just so much twitch and juice there, man,” Jeremiah told Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk. “Like, you could feel it. It just felt like he was operating at a little different speed. … You’re going to see some loud, loud games from him.

“It’s one thing when you see guys that are on the move and then they kind of hit a gear,” he added. “But his ability to go from zero to 60 – to just burst and go – that’s what jumped out to me.”

The Seahawks drafted Price with the No. 32 overall pick to help replace Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who departed in free agency to sign a three-year, $43.05 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Walker had a massive performance in his Chiefs debut, rushing for a career-high 173 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in Kansas City’s 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Walker, a 2022 second-round pick by Seattle, also had three catches for 18 yards and a score, which gave him a career-high 191 scrimmage yards and two total TDs.

Jeremiah called Walker’s performance “phenomenal,” saying it was better than he looked at any point during his four seasons with the Seahawks – even better than his 135-yard rushing performance for Seattle in the Super Bowl.

However, Jeremiah said it doesn’t change his belief that Seattle’s backfield is in good hands with Price.

“With Price, I don’t think they skip a beat here with what he does,” Jeremiah said. “A lot of the things you saw from Walker (Monday) night were as good or better than you had seen from him in his time in Seattle.

“But from the Seattle version of what they had in Kenneth Walker, I thought Price is more than capable.”
