Seahawks injury updates on Walker, Horton and more

Aug 18, 2025, 1:27 PM

The Seattle Seahawks got a major piece of good news with veteran edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu passing his physical on Sunday. It’s a key step for Nwosu, clearing the way from him to return from the physically unable to perform list as he works his way back from offseason knee surgery.

Meanwhile, here are some other notable injury updates from head coach Mike Macdonald’s post-practice media session on Sunday:

• Macdonald said the team plans to have running back Kenneth Walker III participate in Thursday’s joint practice in Wisconsin against the Green Bay Packers. Walker has been dealing with a sore foot that’s sidelined him at times during training camp. He hasn’t played in either of the two first preseason games, although many established running backs typically don’t take snaps during the season.

Macdonald said it’s a “balance” between trying to keep Walker healthy, but also giving him the necessary reps in new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak’s scheme. Walker has missed 10 games due to injuries over his first three NFL seasons, including six games last year.

“You’ve gotta just make the best decision you can,” Macdonald said. “There’s a lot of walkthrough reps that need to be had, but at some point, you’ve gotta do it on the field so you feel confident to go out there and execute at a high level and play your best football. So that’s something that we’re working through, and he’s doing the best he can, and we’re doing the best we can as a coaching staff. We’ve just gotta work together on this thing as it unfolds.

• Macdonald said rookie wide receiver Tory Horton is “working through” an ankle injury he suffered in Friday’s preseason game against Kansas City. Macdonald again indicated the injury wasn’t serious, which echoed his postgame comments.

“He could’ve gone back in,” Macdonald said in Friday night’s postgame press conference. “We just shut him down. He wanted to go back in. That was my call.”

• Macdonald said he’s “hoping” center Olu Oluwatimi can participate in Thursday’s joint practice against the Packers. Oluwatimi, who’s been competing with Jalen Sundell for the starting center job, has missed the first two preseason games while dealing with a back injury. Oluwatimi returned to practice on Sunday, according to Macdonald.

“He was out here today,” Macdonald said. “Not in a heavy capacity, but he was out here today.”

• Macdonald remains “optimistic” that starting linebacker Tyrice Knight will be ready by the Sept. 7 season opener. Knight has been dealing with a knee injury, along with an undisclosed medial issue.

“We’re gonna get some more information in a few days that will have some more clarity on his situation,” Macdonald said. “But I’d say optimistic.”

The Seahawks conclude their preseason slate against the Green Bay Packers at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lambeau Field. Catch the game on Seattle Sports 710 AM and KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM, beginning with the pregame show at 11 a.m.
