Seahawks host former 1st-round defensive end for visit

Former first-round NFL Draft pick and veteran defensive end Dante Fowler took a free agency visit with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, according to NFL.com.

Fowler, 31, was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 3 overall pick in 2015. The 6-foot-3, 261-pound defensive end has totaled 58.5 sacks, 74 tackles for loss and 15 forced fumbles over a 10-year career with the Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys.

Fowler spent the 2025 season with the Cowboys, recording 3.0 sacks in 17 games. In 2024, he piled up 10.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles with the Commanders.

Prior to that, Fowler totaled a combined 10.0 sacks in 2022 and 2023 during his first stint with the Cowboys. During those two seasons, current Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde was Dallas’ defensive line coach.

In recent years, two former Cowboys defensive linemen have followed Durde to Seattle. Veteran nose tackle Johnathan Hankins signed with the Seahawks during the 2024 offseason and five-time Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence signed with Seattle during the 2025 offseason. Lawrence then was an integral part of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl run this past season.

Seattle has a need at edge rusher after losing Boye Mafe to the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.
