Seahawks draft Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price at No. 32

The reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks addressed one of their biggest needs right off the bat in the first round of the NFL Draft, selecting Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price with the No. 32 overall pick on Thursday night.

Price gives the Seahawks some much-needed reinforcement in the backfield after Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III departed in free agency and Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in the divisional round of the playoffs in January.

Price is the consensus No. 2 running back in this year’s draft class behind fellow Notre Dame product Jeremiyah Love, who went No. 3 overall to the Arizona Cardinals. Love and Price are the only two running backs ranked among the draft’s top 60 prospects, according to ESPN.

Despite serving as Love’s backup at Notre Dame, Price still rushed for 1,420 yards, 18 touchdowns and 6.1 yards per carry over the past two seasons. He also had three kick return touchdowns over his three-year career with the Fighting Irish and was a third-team AP All-American in 2025.

At the NFL combine, Price ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash and posted a 35-inch vertical jump.

Entering the draft with just four picks, general manager John Schneider said during his pre-draft press conference on Monday that “it’s no secret” he’d like to trade out of the first round to increase Seattle’s pick total.

But instead, the Seahawks stuck at No. 32 and filled one of the few holes on their talent-laden roster.

Price is the fourth running back in franchise history that Seattle has drafted in the first round. The previous three were Curt Warner at No. 3 overall in 1983, Shaun Alexander at No. 19 overall in 2000 and Rashaad Penny at No. 27 overall in 2018.

Here’s what NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote about Price in his scouting report:

Tempo-driven back with smooth hips, elite vision and a nose for the end zone. Price is a more natural runner than his heralded teammate, Jeremiyah Love, but Price lacks Love’s pure explosiveness and pass-catching talent. Price is highly instinctive, stacking moves to contour to run-lane spacing and avoid tacklers for as long as possible. He moves like a zone back but has average downhill burst for a one-cut runner. Price is an average run finisher, but he has the leg strength and contact balance to carry on when hits aren’t flush. His feel for finding the right path is rare and helps bolster his touchdown totals. Limited third-down value could cap his draft slotting, but his talent as a runner should make him an excellent complementary back.
