It’s been another offseason of change for the Seattle Seahawks under second-year head coach Mike Macdonald.

And with the way the schedule lines up, that will add a little extra spice to some matchups this fall.

6 things that stand out about Seahawks’ 2025 schedule

With the full NFL schedule unveiled on Wednesday, here’s a look at a persistent theme throughout the Seahawks’ 2025 slate – reunion games that feature a notable player or coach squaring off against his former team.

• Preseason Week 1 vs. Las Vegas Raiders: The reunion theme actually begins in August, when former Pete Carroll and Geno Smith return to Seattle in the preseason opener. Carroll, the most successful coach in Seahawks history, is heading into his first year as the Raiders’ head coach. And while Smith likely won’t play in this game, he’ll be back in the same stadium where he spent his past six seasons – including the past three as Seattle’s starting quarterback – before he was traded to Las Vegas in March.

• Week 2 at Pittsburgh Steelers: The other big trade the Seahawks made this offseason featured two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf, who was dealt to Pittsburgh just two days after Smith was sent to Las Vegas. Metcalf reportedly requested the trade, so this game certainly carries added intrigue both for Seattle and Metcalf.

• Week 3 vs. New Orleans Saints: First-year Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak gets an early chance to face the team he served as the OC for last season. Kubiak’s Saints put up 91 points over their first two games last year, but things quickly went downhill after a slew of injuries. Kubiak took the Seattle OC job in January, with his future in New Orleans uncertain after head coach Dennis Allen was fired midway through the 2024 campaign.

• Week 9 at Washington Commanders: There are two Legion of Boom-era ties in this matchup. Six-time All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, who spent 11 storied seasons in Seattle, is back for his second season with the Commanders. And Dan Quinn, who was the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, is heading into his second year as Washington’s head coach. Wagner and Quinn are coming off a trip to the NFC championship game.

• Week 11 at Los Angeles Rams: Veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who signed a three-year deal with Seattle in March, returns to Los Angeles to face his former team for the first time. Kupp had a standout eight-year run with the Rams, including a massive 2021 campaign that earned him NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors. Kupp sits fourth on the Rams’ all-time receiving list, but was released by Los Angeles this offseason after dealing with injuries in recent years and carrying a large salary.

• Week 12 at Tennessee Titans: After releasing veteran wideout Tyler Lockett in a salary cap-clearing move this offseason, the Seahawks are set to face Lockett’s new team in November. Lockett piled up 8,594 receiving yards and 61 touchdown catches over his 10-year run in Seattle, which ranks second all-time in franchise history. Two other former Seahawks – outside linebacker Dre’Mont Jones and linebacker Cody Barton – are also on the Titans.

• Week 13 vs. Minnesota Vikings: On Dec. 22, 2024, Sam Darnold threw a go-ahead 39-yard touchdown pass in the closing minutes to give the Vikings a late-season win over the Seahawks at Lumen Field. The two teams meet again this November, but this time Darnold is expected to be quarterbacking the opposite team. After reviving his career with a breakout 2024 campaign in Minnesota, Darnold signed a three-year, $100.5 million deal with the Seahawks in March and is their presumptive starting QB for 2025.

• Week 16 vs. Los Angeles Rams: Five weeks after his return to Los Angeles, Kupp gets another chance to face his former team when the Rams make their annual visit to Lumen Field.
