The Seattle Seahawks signed wide receiver Cody White from the practice squad as a part of small roster shuffle Wednesday.

With White joining the 53-man roster, the Seahawks waived veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin and re-signed him to the practice squad.

The move comes after the Seahawks signed Griffin off the practice squad and released White before re-signing the wide receiver to the practice squad last week.

The roster shuffle could be a good sign of things to come for Seattle’s cornerback room. Griffin joined the 53-man roster last week while star corner Devon Witherspoon dealt with a knee injury that kept him out practice and ultimately Sunday’s win over the Steelers.

Head coach Mike Macdonald on Monday addressed the possibility of Witherspoon returning this week during The Mike Macdonald Show on Seattle Sports.

“Yeah, I think so. … Hopefully he’ll practice at some point (this week),” Macdonald said. “But I think he’s probably still a guy that you could take all the way to the game.”

Griffin, a ninth-year pro, played just three defensive snaps and did not record any stats Sunday.

Riq Woolen and Josh Jobe served as Seattle’s top two cornerbacks and Derion Kendrick as the nickelback with Witherspoon out. Kendrick had an interception.

White, a fourth-year pro, returned two kickoffs for 49 yards and logged 11 total snaps in Seattle’s season opener against San Francisco. He made the team’s initial 53-man roster after a strong preseason, which included a standout performance in the finale.
