Marshawn Lynch will miss his third game of the season and the fourth of his Seahawks career after being declared inactive for today’s game against San Francisco.
Lynch was listed as questionable on Friday because of the injury to his abdomen that first cropped up three days before Seattle played Arizona. Lynch was listed as questionable for that game, too, but played.
Coach Pete Carroll indicated Friday he expected Lynch to be available, but the designation as questionable translated to a 50-50 chance of availability.
Lynch has rushed for more than 1,200 yards in each of the past four seasons for Seattle. He gained 417 yards this season, having already missed two games because of a hamstring injury.
Rookie Thomas Rawls is expected to start in Lynch’s spot. Rawls has gained 395 yards on the ground this season, and is averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Lynch is averaging 3.8.
Lynch was on the field in a sweatsuit, hood up over his head, 80 minutes before the game started.
Center Drew Nowak is inactive for the second straight game as Patrick Lewis will start with Lemuel Jeanpierre serving as backup. The other players inactive for Seattle are receiver Paul Richardson (hamstring) and linebacker Bruce Irvin (knee), who were already ruled out, as well as cornerback Tye Smith, center/guard Kristjan Sokoli and defensive tackle A.J. Francis.
