Seahawks bring back running back Robert Turbin

The Seahawks signed one of their former running backs to help fill a big hole at the position, not long before adding another one with a bit bigger of a name.

Carroll shares updates on Seahawks’ litany of injuries

Robert Turbin, a 30-year-old free agent who last played in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts in 2018, shared a picture on his Instagram Monday of himself sitting in a Seahawks locker with his name and number on it, signifying that he has rejoined the team.

Turbin was one of several running backs the Seahawks reportedly tried out Monday, a day after starter Chris Carson and No. 2 back C.J. Prosise both suffered season-ending injuries. Those came just weeks after Rashaad Penny, who was Carson’s usual backup, landed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Turbin was a fourth-round draft pick of the Seahawks in 2012, and he spent three seasons with Seattle. He didn’t miss a game in those three years, starting three in 2014. He appeared in just eight total games in two years with the Colts, however, running for a combined 63 yards and a touchdown on 27 attempts in 2017 and 2018. Turbin was suspended for four games for a PED violation in 2018 and was waived in November of that year while dealing with a shoulder injury.

Another former Seahawks running back is joining Turbin in Seattle’s backfield. Marshawn Lynch, who coach Pete Carroll said Monday on 710 ESPN Seattle was flying in for a meeting, agreed to a deal on Monday night according to his agent.

Marshawn Lynch just left his physical with the Seahawks and is now awaiting results.
