Seahawks announce two signings, including a WSU Cougars legend

The Seattle Seahawks are tapping into the 509 for a wide receiver for the second time in the last week.

The Seahawks announced a pair of signings Friday: linebacker Josh Ross, who is a re-signing, and wide receiver River Cracraft, a former WSU Cougars standout.

Cracraft joins Yakima native and former Eastern Washington Eagles star Cooper Kupp as new Seahawks receivers with in-state connections.

The 30-year-old Cracraft is a seven-year NFL veteran with three teams: the Denver Broncos (2018-19), San Francisco 49ers (2020-21) and Miami Dolphins (2022-24). He broke into the league as an undrafted player on Denver’s practice squad.

The 6-foot, 198-pound Cracraft had seven receptions for 66 yards in eight games with Miami last season. His most productive offensive seasons as a pro were 2022, when he had nine catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games, and 2023, when had nine catches for 121 yards and a touchdown in 10 games (including one start).

In 2024, Cracraft played 23 snaps on special teams for Miami. He also has returned kicks and punts in his NFL career, but not since 2020.

Cracraft, a native of Orange County in California, is a legend in Pullman for his four prolific seasons with the Cougars from 2013-16. He ranks second all-time on the WSU leaderboard with 218 receptions, is sixth with 2,701 receiving yards, and is tied for sixth with 20 receiving touchdowns.

The 25-year-old Ross joined the Seahawks last season after being claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. He played under Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald both in college when Macdonald was defensive coordinator at Michigan in 2021 and then in the pros with Baltimore, where Macdonald was the DC from 2022-23.

Ross, who was undrafted in 2022, appeared in seven games for the Ravens and 10 for the Seahawks in 2024. He had nine tackles combined on the season and played 314 snaps, all on special teams. He has not played a defensive snap during an NFL regular season game to date.

The Seahawks re-signed the 6-foot, 229-pound Ross after not tendering him a contract offer as a restricted free agent earlier this offseason.
