Report: Seahawks are re-signing WR/returner Rashid Shaheed

Rashid Shaheed is staying in the Emerald City.

The Seattle Seahawks are re-signing the speedy wide receiver and return specialist to a three-year, $51 million deal, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday afternoon. Shaheed’s deal includes $34.7 million of guaranteed money, per Schefter.

The Seahawks acquired the 27-year-old Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints at the Nov. 4 trade deadline in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Shaheed was a game-changer for Seattle on special teams, with two punt return touchdowns and a kick return touchdown. He had a 100-yard kick return TD in a Week 14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, a 58-yard punt return TD that sparked the a dramatic Week 16 comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams, and a game-opening 95-yard kick return TD that ignited an NFC Divisional Round rout of the San Francisco 49ers.

Shaheed didn’t put up big stats as a receiver, totaling just 18 catches for 266 yards across 12 regular-season and postseason games with Seattle. However, he caught a 51-yard pass that keyed a game-opening TD drive in the Seahawks’ NFC title game victory over the Rams. And as a field-stretching vertical threat, he helped Seattle’s rushing attack face lighter boxes down the stretch. He also had 11 carries for 86 rushing yards over his 12 games with the Seahawks.

After going undrafted out of Weber State in 2022, Shaheed spent his first three and a half seasons with the Saints. His best year as a receiver came in 2023, when he had 46 catches for 719 yards and five touchdowns. He’s a two-time Pro Bowl kick returner, receiving the honor in 2023 and 2025.

Shaheed is the second unrestricted free agent to re-sign with the Seahawks since the NFL’s free agent negotiating period began on Monday morning. The other was cornerback Josh Jobe, who reportedly is re-signing with Seattle on a three-year, $24 million deal.

So far, the Seahawks have lost three unrestricted free agents to other teams.

Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III is reportedly signing with the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year contract that’s worth up to $45 million. Safety Coby Bryant is heading to the Chicago Bears on a reported three-year, $40 million deal. And edge rusher Boye Mafe is signing with the Cincinnati Bengals on a reported three-year, $60 million deal.

This marks the third straight offseason that Seahawks general manager John Schneider has acquired a player at the trade deadline and then re-signed him the ensuing offseason. Schneider did so with 2023 trade-deadline addition Leonard Williams and 2024 deadline addition Ernest Jones IV.
