Seahawks icon Tyler Lockett reuniting with Carroll in Vegas

Seattle Seahawks icon Tyler Lockett is reuniting with head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith in Las Vegas.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Monday morning that Lockett is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders confirmed the move Monday afternoon.

The news comes after Lockett was released by the Tennessee Titans last week. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Lockett requested the release.

To make room for Lockett on the roster, the Raiders waived receiver Justin Shorter.

Lockett, who signed a one-year deal with Tennessee in the offseason, had 10 catches for 70 yards in seven games with the Titans.

A third-round pick by Seattle in 2015, Lockett became one of the franchise’s most decorated receivers while spending the first 10 years of his 11-year pro career with the Seahawks. The Kansas State product is second in franchise history with 661 receptions, 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns, trailing only Hall of Famer Steve Largent in all three categories.

Lockett made the Pro Bowl as a rookie and was elected to three consecutive All-Pro teams as a return man in his first three NFL seasons. He produced four straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons for the Seahawks from 2019-22. He had a career-high 10 TD receptions in 2018 and 2020.

Lockett had 49 receptions for 600 yards and two TDs in his final year with the Seahawks last season. He was cut by the team in March.

Lockett spent his first nine seasons in Seattle under Carroll, the franchise’s all-time leader in wins. He played with Smith for six seasons, including three while Smith was the starting quarterback. He’s also set to reunite with former Seahawks safety Jamal Adams, linebacker Jon Rhattigan and offensive lineman Stone Forstyhe in Las Vegas.

The Raiders have a 2-5 record and are in last place in the AFC West.
