Report: Ex-Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett granted release from Titans

Former Seattle Seahawks standout Tyler Lockett is reportedly set to be a free agent.

The veteran wide receiver asked for and received his release from the Tennessee Titans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. Lockett is expected to be available to sign with a new team by Wednesday, according to Schefter.

Lockett spent his first 10 seasons with the Seahawks before he was released following last season. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Titans in April.

The 33 year old hauled in 10 of 21 targets for 70 yards and scored at TD on a fumble recovery over seven games with Tennessee.

Lockett was among the most decorated receivers in franchise history upon leaving Seattle.

The Seahawks selected him in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Kansas State. He made an immediate impact as a standout in the return game as a rookie, earning a Pro Bowl nod and first-team All-Pro honors after returning a punt and kickoff for a touchdown. He was named second-team All-Pro as a returner in 2016 and 2017.

Lockett produced four straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons from 2019-2022, amassing a career-high 1,175 yards with eight touchdowns in 2021. He had 10 receiving touchdowns during the 2018 and 2020 seasons.

He’s second all time in franchise history with 661 receptions, 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns, trailing only Hall of Famer Steve Largent in all three categories.

Lockett had 49 catches for 600 yards and two TDs with the Seahawks last year.

Lockett’s exit from the Titans comes one week after head coach Brian Callahan was the first NFL coach to be fired this season.
